Michele Fasano, independent director and producer was born in Gioia del Colle (Bari) in 1965. 

 
He graduated at the University of Bologna in the Discipline of Art, Music and Spectacle (DAMS) with a thesis in Aesthetics: "The poetics of Andrej Tarkovskij", a research based upon the unpublished lessons in shorthand in directing of the Russian master at the Moscow VGIK, and kept at the “Andrej Tarkovskij International Foundation” in Florence.   
 
For more than a year, between 1990 and 1991, he was the pupil of Tonino Guerra, whom he followed in writing his first short film: The Rule of Sleep (1992). 
 
He later attended the workshops of screenwriters Suso Cecchi D’Amico in Bari, Fernando Solanas in Bologna, and Abbas Kiarostami in Palermo.
 
In 1993 he made "King Tarlo (not to die)” theatrical/video of the play by Marco Manchisi dedicated to Antonio Neiwiller.
 
Between 1995 and 1997 he produced and directed the full-length film "KAPPA", freely treated from the play by Mario Giorgi "KOPPIA". Marco Sgrosso and Elena Bucci are the actors in both the play and the film. 
 
In 2000 he made his first documentary "Not just anyplace", a history of the Reggio Emilia primary schools for Reggio Children srl.
 
The creative documentary "Glimmer of Light, Notes for a film on the sense of place", poetic tale of the immigration of Punjab Sikh Indians in the Padana Plain is of 2004.
 
In 2005 he founded SATTVA FILMS production and school srl and in the same year attended the MAIAWORKSHOP, training programme for young European producers, promoted and supported by MEDIA program of the European Union.
 
In 2006 he published the dvd of the film "Glimmer of Lighttogether with two essays on poetry (already appeared in the review Hortus Musicus), "Il Canto delle Cose. Note per un cinema dell'esperienza" and "Cinema di poesia come etica della convivialità" plus a third essay "Realtà, rappresentazione, poesia nel film di Luigi Ghisleri 'La campagna cremonese 1971'", 8mm restored and presented in the dvd as a special contribution.
 
Between 2006 and 2009 he developed the film project and production of the creative documentary "Seth’s journey to Otranto". The film describes the clever, universal and pluralist contents of the great paved mosaic of the Cathedral of Otranto, created in the light of a journey in our times through the oriental Mediterranean horizon to which Otranto belonged when the mosaic was laid out. The film is distributed in dvd, attached to the volume "Otranto, the Mosaic, Seth's Journey" (by Michele Fasano, Laura Pasquini, and Giovanni Barba) published by Sattva Films. In the volume, together with essays on the iconography of the mosaic there are two articles on cinema poetics "La forma del film" and "Dall'esperienza alla forma del film".
 
In 2009 he produced the short film by Lucia and Davide Pepe "Gardens of Light".

In the same year he took part in the MAIAWORKSHOP as tutor to a group of Turkish students, aspiring European producers.

In 2011 he made the documentary «The future lies with me...» a political portrait of Adriano Olivetti. Part one: "Alle origini di un modello"; part two "Il modello comunitario concreto". 

In October 2013, he organizes in Bologna the first FOCUS: Adriano Olivetti, workshop on the radical difference of Adriano Olivetti approach, built around his film «The future lies with me...»

In October 2014, he organizes in Bari the second FOCUS: Adriano Olivetti, workshop on the radical difference of Adriano Olivetti approach, built around his film «The future lies with me...»

In May 2016, he organizes in Milan the third FOCUS: Adriano Olivettiworkshop on the radical difference of Adriano Olivetti approach, built around his film «The future lies with me...».

In May 2017, he organizes in Messina the fourth FOCUS: Adriano Olivettiworkshop on the radical difference of Adriano Olivetti approach, built around his film «The future lies with me...».

Actually he's working on following projects:

Red Hands (Mani rosse), 28 min., 4k, stop-motion and 2D animation film, colour, by Francesco Filippi. The project has been selected for support Creative Europe - MEDIA Sub-Programme - Development, 2013.

The seed of decline (Il seme del declino), 105 min., digital and 2D animation, creative documentary. The project has been selected for MEDIA Development support 2013 and MIBACT Development of cultural interest feature film projects traits from original screenplays 2013.

The unhoped-for path of Angels (L'insperato sentiero degli Angeli), 80 min., digital, colour, creative documentary and transmedia. The project has been selected for MEDIA Development support 2008. In April 2016 he presents in Baku (Azerbaijan), into the frame of VII Global Forum dell'UNAoC (United Nations Alliance of Civilizations), the trans-media project «metamorphosis», built around "The unhoped-for path of the Angels”, which involves 9 countries of Mediterranean area and twenty partners.
